The guitar is a PRS S2 with a Dimarzio PAF 59 in the bridge and a Dimarzio Air Classic in the neck. The amp is plugged into a Suhr reactive load and then into a Suhr Analog Cabinet Emulator and then direct into the recorder. No speaker cabinet was used. See my channel for other F...

Sounds great! More real than a digital processor. I have a '60s Gretsch 2-12" speakers with two 6L6GC tubes. Can a matched pair of 6L6GC tubes be put in without anything else adjusted? One of the tubes went bad recently.

I have a similar Gretsch amp with 2 12" speakers. Have had it since the late 60's. Recently one of the 6L6-GC tubes went bad. I'm wondering can I just put in a new matching pair of 6L6-GC tubes, or do they somehow have to be "matched" to the amp? Two new tubes will cost almost what I paid for the amp 50 years ago!😊

Since the Jensen seems to provide a cleaner and more articulate sound, would it offer the most flexibility if you wanted to add any effects? The Warehouse appears to be naturally muddier, so would the choices be more limited?

Okay is this you tube or fox news here because it sure seems like there's a whole lot of comments of either jealousy going on by the competition or let's just say those that want to believe and act is if they are all experts in this field folks. I mean really folks. Unless you are willing to learn more about the craft or the field well I don't believe that any of the rest of us on here care about your smart ass comments thank you!

I give a slight nod to the G8C. They both sound really good to my ears, but they have completely different character. The fact that they both sound good is a testament to the amp as well. and I can hear that it compresses and overrides really well.

I think the best sounding was the original. I like the jensen more than the warehouse speaker. I like the fuller more bassy tone of the warehouse speaker but it's a bit muddy compared to the jensen.

You really have to use that Warehouse at much higher volumes for a few weeks before you can make a realistic comparison. All speakers need to be broken in.

G8C is woofy at volume.. The Jensen is an easy call - not flabby and will cut through the mix, but wasn't harsh (key bit)... Kinda fun to play a flubbed out Champ, but in any band context it's mush... Jensen all day long...

Well done! Yes they sound drastically different. This may have something to do with…everything! You couldn’t ask for two more different 8” speakers. Smooth cone vs ribbed cone. Small magnet vs big magnet. Old vs new. Alnico vs ceramic. Thanks for the effective demo and careful setup. In my opinion the WGS sounds much better.

The 50s Jensen 8J11 is a speaker I have a bit of experience with both originals and also reconing. Having done multiple tests with various materials and techniques on recones, I have discovered that the difference of alloys in the vintage speakers is one of the most significant variable that makes them more chimey, punchy, holographic, easy to bloom, have quack/bark, and have that loose, chewy character that is a lot more captivating than modern speakers. The modern manufacturers can't get the vintage tone and never will. The G8C has a stiffer, more 2D presentation which does not bloom as much when you dig in. It also has some glare and harshness on the highs which is what we expect for modern alloys. If you let me recone the G8C, I can make it have the character of the 8J11 but also handle more power. The key to the tonal aspects are in the details. Also, the way you connect the speaker wires to the terminals affects the tone. Also

We’re those electro voices on the far left of the free stuff pic? Or just some knock off wannabe version of aristocrats? I already have too much stuff but would’ve needed restraints to prevent myself from taking all of that stuff and only using one piece once before claiming I’ll get around to it.

I'm pretty sure that this amp has been modfied especially for studio work - this is a kind of amps that is highly asked for already in the 80ies, to get this sound without fuzzing big membrane mics and rhe gein in the mixer.

Sounds killer! May have missed the explanation in the video - what's up with the loaf pan? We used to have one of those projectors. Got it for pennies at an estate sale. The projector ran perfectly. Bought some weird 16mm films for cheap off of eBay and watched them now and then. Always meant to plug a guitar into the amp, but never got around to it. Wish we would have!!
